Maxthon
OMG! Just downloaded and installed the Maxthon browser. I thought Chrome was fast after using Firefox, and thought Firefox was fast compared to IE, but Maxthon is a Ferrari compared to Chrome! Wow, what speed. Loads up quick and pages are nearly instantaneous. This is my default browser now!

They are not cheap! But I love them because they are warm, cuddly, love to sleep under the sheets and are extreme playful. I get a herd of them chasing a laser light down the hallway! Don’t know where you are at, but hey we breed ‘em at www.autumn-argus.com and you can see what we have. And got a new litter yesterday morning. We supplement bottle feeding them. They are a riot!

They smell good if you bathe them a couple times a month. Under the covers they feel like suede hot water bottles and love to cuddle up!
Winner is Shadowbox
Played with Prettybox, Floatbox, Colorbox, and then Shadowbox for the website. The winner is Shadowbox. It is much easier to install and get up to speed with doing what I want for the site. It also validates XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.1 nicely without hacking around to do what other did not.
It is such a hassle and there are so many lightbox alternatives, something like over 50 of them!. Some of the authors quit their projects, never seem to answer questions, want money, and when you go to their support forums, argh s%#t, way too many issues out there. When you ask about validation, although there software demo pages say they validate and work across most browsers, they lie, or are cocky about not caring because they are so above that. So, I choose Shadowbox.js as it installs stand alone or with jQuery and other js tool sets. It gets up and running fairly quickly. I had a problem getting the JWPlayer to work with it so I abandoned that for now.
Well I spent several days farting around with these toys. Now I have to finalize my options and such, then run it across the rest of the pages. IE 8 is a problem, but then anything to do with IE always is a hassle. I will be glad when they fail altogether or are just irrelevant in the marketplace. But for now, Firefox and Chrome are kicking Microsoft’s butt and by the New Year Chrome will take over the number one spot. I love it! I also test against Safari and Opera. That covers 95% of the browsers viewing my site.
Oh well, I go to bed and get up for my day job! We shipped another animal today and I always get depressed about it. I know they go to better homes because we vet the buyers, but still, you form relationships with them when they sleep with you!
